KMWorld Names QL2 in
"100 Companies That Matter" List
Business intelligence and enterprise search provider
receives top honors
March 8, 2006 – Seattle – QL2 Software Inc., a leading provider of business intelligence, text analytics and enterprise search software solutions, today announces its inclusion in KMWorld's annual list of 100 companies that matter in knowledge management. The announcement comes on the heels of QL2's significant product announcement in WebQL 3.0, the first to offer image text search in this space.
WebQL 3.0 reads text represented as images in web pages and PDF documents using Optical Character Recognition (OCR). Data that was previously inaccessible, because it existed as an image, is now completely available for extraction and delivery in an actionable format (Word, Excel, CSV, etc.). WebQL 3.0 also expands file type support to include PPT, DBF, RTF, WML, XSV, image files and self-extracting zip files. Added file type support combined with the OCR capability enables WebQL to target, pinpoint and deliver virtually any information available on the web or inside the firewall and pushes QL2 Software ahead of the other players in this space.
This is the sixth year of the list, compiled by colleagues, KM practitioners, theorists, analysts, vendors and their customers. "The list is conceived as a way to recognize some of the organizations leading the way in the knowledge economy. It's designed to encourage a broader discussion of KM" said Hugh McKellar, Executive Editor at KMWorld. "Criteria for inclusion differ, of course, as do the technologies recognized, but all companies share the following: Each has helped to create a market, redefine one or enhance one, and all of them demonstrate the capacity for customer-driven agile innovation. Compilation of the list is a year-long, collaborative but informal process with vendors, analysts and colleagues."
"This is a fantastic honor and validation of the quality and sophistication of our services," said Chris Buckingham, president of QL2. "This, in addition to our exciting major release of WebQL 3.0 is an indication of the great innovation and impact we're making in our marketplace."
WebQL 3.0 has a number of new enterprise-grade features. New grid computing capabilities provide limitless scalability for large data integration projects. WebQL 3.0 works well with IBM UIMA and SOA so interoperability isn't an issue, and new security features ensure that important data is safely stored and transferred.
